About

My name is Bethany, and I’m a 24 year old living with multiple severe food allergies. Diagnosed with Celiac Disease/gluten intolerance in February 2009, and recently diagnosed with a life threatening soy allergy (anaphylaxis), I have decided to dedicate a website to everything sans soy and gluten. These sneaky culprits are hidden everywhere and if you’re quite sensitive, everyday life can be scary and full of anxiety. This site will cover everything from soy derived additives, to makeup, to brominated vegetable oil. This is your soy-free, gluten-free, legume free, peanut free safe haven! Gluten free since February 2009, Soy free, Legume free, Peanut free, Yeast free since July 2011.
(P.s. I know there is Mt. Dew in the picture, and if you are soy free, don’t drink it. It contains unlabeled B.V.O which you can read about in this post. This picture was taken just before my diagnosis).
(*Note: This site is not intended as medical advice. If you think you may have a food allergy, intolerance, or sensitivity, please contact your healthcare professional and talk with them about what is right for you before implementing any dietary changes. I am not a medical professional and am only offering this blog as a resource for the soy free, gluten free, and (occasionally) allergen free communities).
We need more people like you out there (though I feel the group is growing rapidly!). Keep it up girl!

I too have allergies to many things including yeast and soy which seem to be hidden in everything, so I know how tough it can be also! Great blog, looking forward to reading your posts
Kate- They really are hidden in everything! I bet it’s hard actually being allergic to yeast, as that seems hard to riddle out everything it occurs naturally in. I have a moderate intolerance to yeast, but not a full blown allergy so I feel lucky. I also have a slight fructose malabsorption to apples and sometimes pineapples, so I eat those sparingly. I’m enjoying your site, and good luck with the allergies! Cheers =)
I’m glad to have found you on Twitter! I am allergic to soy and lactose intolerant. I also avoid gluten but that is just a personal choice. Having a soy allergy has been a blessing in disguise! If you have a chance, check out my blog exsoycise.com. I post lots of fun recipes and other random health tidbits. I’m looking forward to following your blog!
Thanks for checking it out! I’m loving your site, so much good content. It’s so great to connect with others who share this issue as it’s such a difficult one sometimes. It’s everywhere I feel. But the more awareness and the more we share the easier it becomes, and the healthier (hopefully) food will eventually become in the mainstream. I wholeheartedly agree that it is really a blessing to be allergic to! The stuff is quite terrible for you. Can’t wait to keep checking out your page, thanks for the kind words =)
